NaturalĀ  Moisturizers as well as skin care products have been hype terms for quite a while now in Natural skin care. While each can be quite nice to use, active components have to be included to enhance the appearance of our facial skin.

The goal of Natural Moisturizers is to hydrate as well as soften your skin. For a moisturizer to penetrate skin, an additional requirement is a fairly low pH, roughly 4.5. Using this method the skin is going to be kept in the most beneficial condition keeping ageing at bay.

Essential ingredients for natural skin lotions are:

1. Cold pressed oils which are compatible with your skin.

2. Humectants that keep water within the skin

3. Naturally derived active ingredients

An active ingredient is a concentrated product that helps rebuild collagen and elastin or one which accelerates the shedding of the dead skin cells.

Natural Oils that work well in Moisturizers consist of Jojoba, Macadamia, Sweet Almond, Apricot kernel and Tamanu. A number of other oils from the jungles of South America are appearing in ingredient lists. Oils rich in essential fatty acid content work in synergy with skin.

Research has performed a big component in supplying improved active ingredients over recent years. Several Peptides have been developed each aiming for a different outcome. In layman’s terms they are able to trick your skin into producing more collagen and elastin for firm skin. A few reduce facial lines and wrinkles by encouraging your skin to produce more natural hyaluronic acid. Others claim that they can relax muscle movement thereby lessening the look of facial {lines} and wrinkles. Peptides are synthetically made amino acids.

Humectants be capable of drawing moisture from the lower levels of the skin as well as from the atmosphere. Glycerin, lecithin as well as Sodium PCA are included within the natural group of humectants. Proplyene Glycol is often utilized but is not an all natural.

The king of hydrators is Hyaluronic Acid which is not an acid but a carbohydrate. Hyaluronic Acid belongs to a group called mucopolysaccarides. HA also known as sodium hyaluronate, is able to support one thousand times its own weight in water. The benefit to the skin will be increased hydration, tone and elasticity.

Hyaluronic Acid nowadays comes from plant. For centuries rooster comb had been the origin.

Moisturizers or anti aging serums containing Hyaluronic Acid are high quality skin care items however they need to contain high percentages to make a big effect on the appearance of the face. When you choose an all natural Moisturizer remember to consider the components mentioned above and you’ll be in front of the average person searching for antiaging natural moisturiser.

On Mice And Moisturisers, Or Why Mice (And Women) Need A Natural Moisturiser.

There’s very good reasons why mice should be using a natural moisturiser. And many of those reasons also apply to people, including the millions of women who use moisturisers in America.

Recently a study was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. In this study scientists were interested to find out if caffeine could cause cancer in mice. As a part of the study each mouse had a moisturiser applied to it’s skin 5 times a day for 17 weeks.

The scientists were very surprised when they came to a conclusion that was not what was expected. The conclusion was that applying these moisturisers to the skin of the mice “increased the total number of histologically characterized tumors by 69%”. Or in other words that applying moisturiser to the skin of mice very significantly increase the risk of skin cancer.

Lets look at this a little more and find out some more details, and in particular why the mice, and all those women in America who use moisturisers daily, should be using a natural moisturiser.

The moisturisers that were applied to the skin of the mice were Dermabase, Dermovan, Eucerin Original Moisturizing Cream (Eucerin), or Vanicream. Each of these moisturisers contains sodium lauryl sulphate and mineral oil.

Mineral oil is a petrochemical product that comes from crude oil. It is found extensively in a very wide range of personal products such as skin care and anti aging products, cosmetics and other personal products. It is used so widely because it is incredibly cheap. Mineral oil is also found in many moisturisers, and has been linked to cancer and other serious health issues.

Sodium lauryl sulphate is well known as a common ingredient in many soaps and shampoos and has also been linked to cancer and other health problems as well. For this reason many consumers specifically look for soaps and shampoos that do not contain sodium lauryl sulphate. But many consumers are unaware that other products, such as moisturisers, also contain sodium lauryl sulphate.

Of course the fact that the scientists concluded that applying the moisturisers, which contain mineral oil and sodium lauryl sulphate, to the skin of the mice increased the risk of skin cancer doesn’t prove that the sodium lauryl sulphate or the mineral oil caused the cancer. To prove that there would need to be more extensive studies. Nevertheless it is certainly of concern, and may have you sufficiently worried to question whether or not you should be considering using a more natural moisturiser in the future. However there is also one further fact that is worth knowing about the study.

And this is it. The scientists were so concerned about the result that they decided to do the study again using a more natural moisturiser which didn’t contain either sodium lauryl sulphate or mineral oil. When they did the study a second time using this more natural moisturiser they found no increase in the rate of skin cancer in the mice at all.

So you can see that there are good reasons why millions of American women, as well as mice, should be using a much more natural facial moisturiser rather than a moisturiser that they may be using now, which may contain sodium lauryl sulphate and mineral oil.

There’s hundreds or even thousands of personal products such as skin care products that contain chemical and petrochemical ingredients, many of which are known to have health implications. Some of these ingredients have been shown to cause cancer and may well be found in the moisturiser, as well as well as other skin care products that you may have even used today.

There are very good natural skin products available which do not use these chemical and petrochemical ingredients, and which useĀ  ingredients which are safe for mice, and women, to use and which work very well as a natural moisturiser.

About Natural Moisturisers, Skin Cancer, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate And Mice.

Chances are you use a moisturizer every day. It’s a good idea to take care of your skin and there’s hundreds of different anti aging skin care products available. However it may be news to you that many skin care products, such as moisturizers which contain chemical ingredients like sodium lauryl sulphate, may be putting your health at risk, and that there are powerful reasons to use a natural moisturizer.

Sodium lauryl sulphate is an excellent degreaser. Mechanics use it to degrease engines and it is also found in many soaps and shampoos. More and more consumers are becoming aware that soaps and shampoos with sodium lauryl sulphate are not good.

What is less well known is that there are many moisturizers which also contain sodium lauryl sulphate as well as a range of other chemical ingredients, many of which are known to cause cancer.

A study reported in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology about the effects of using a moisturizer on mice is deeply interesting. The study was originally intended to study the effect of caffeine on mice, however as part of the study a moisturizer was applied to the skin of the mice 5 times a day for 17 weeks. The mice were also given doses of UV radiation to simulate sunlight.

All the moisturizers used in the study contain sodium lauryl sulphate. They also contained petrochemical ingredients such as mineral oil.

The scientists were surprised to find that the mice who received the moisturizer had an increased risk of skin cancer of 69 percent.

So they decided to study this again using a moisturizer with no sodium lauryl sulphate or mineral oil. And they found that this time there was no increase in the risk of skin cancer to the mice.

Perhaps now you’re beginning to see the link between moisturizers, sodium lauryl sulphate and skin cancer and are beginning to wonder whether you should be considering natural moisturizers next time you’re looking to buy your anti aging skin care products.

Or maybe you’ve just thrown away the moisturizer you have in the cupboard now.

It’s sad to say but there are many chemical and petrochemical ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulphate mineral oil used in so many of the big brand-name anti aging skin care products that you may take for granted and use every day. There are excellent and very safe natural ingredients which are well known to make excellent natural moisturizers. For example there are many oils from fruits and nuts which work well as natural moisturizers. But the big brand-name companies rarely use these because chemicals like sodium lauryl sulphate are much cheaper.

And there are some outstanding natural moisturizers on the market. They use ingredients which are known to be safe and will not put you at risk of skin cancer. One company in particular makes an outstanding range of natural skin care products and chances are you’ve never even heard of it. None of their products contain sodium lauryl sulphate or any other known harmful ingredients.

It’s time to junk those big name anti aging skin care products which use cheap chemical ingredients that put your health at risk. And it’s time to look for natural alternatives such as high quality natural moisturizers which work well and do not put you at risk of skin cancer.

Why Should You Use A Natural Moisturizer?

There is one fast-growing segment of the anti aging skin care market and that is natural skin care products. This includes natural moisturizers and there are strong reasons for this movement away from mainstream skin care products. Natural skin care products are both safer and more effective than so many of the well known brands. Lets examine why you should consider a natural moisturizer.

Modern skin care products including many well-known moisturizers and other anti aging products contain petrochemical and chemical ingredients. A good ingredient to highlight is mineral oil.

Mineral oil is a petrochemical product which is found in hundreds if not thousands of moisturizing products. According to the cosmetic safety database it is linked to cancer, allergies and immunotoxicity, bioaccumulation and skin irritation, to quote a few. Mineral oil is used in so many anti aging skin care products because it is incredibly cheap.

Mineral oil doesn’t moisturize your skin. Rather it coats your skin with a film of oil that prevents moisture loss. However in doing this it exposes the user to all the health risks I have mentioned, and it also clogs pores of your skin increasing the incidence of acne.

There is a wide range of naturally occurring ingredients which are extremely effective as natural skin moisturizers. Ingredients such as olive oil, shea butter and macadamia nut oil as well as many others are all known to be excellent natural moisturizers. However they are rarely used in mainstream anti aging skin care products because they are much more expensive than the chemical alternatives.

This is becoming more well-known and this is why there is a move away from chemical laden skin care products towards natural skin care products such as natural moisturizers which use safer and more effective natural ingredients.

Some consumers choose to source these natural moisturizers in their raw state and use them as they are. Whilst some can be found in their raw state others cannot and it can be difficult and messy to make up your own body moisturizer or facial moisturizer like this.

But there are companies, usually small niche skin care company, which recognise the opportunity in this problem and who choose to manufacture natural skin care products with known safe and effective natural ingredients. These companies produce excellent products such as natural moisturizers which are very effective.

The obvious conclusion is that if ingredients like this are very expensive the products must also be very expensive but that is rarely the case. This is because many of these companies, and one in particular, chooses to direct the majority of their budget towards product quality rather than television advertising, and as television advertising makes up the vast bulk of the product price by avoiding this cost the company can market it’s products at a competitive price, and include a money back guarantee.

So as you can see there are very strong reasons for this powerful and growing movement away from chemical laden anti aging skin care products advertised on TV. The movement is towards natural skin care products which are both safe and effective to use.

But it is quite common that consumers have never heard of these small niche skin care companies because they do not advertise. However when they discover the effectiveness of the products they are usually extremely pleasantly surprised and routinely become lifelong customers.

So if you’ve recently discovered the problems with mainstream skin care products and are searching for a high quality natural moisturizer the good news is that they are available. To find out where they are available visit my website.
